I love the supernatural.
Zombies, ghosts, things that go "eat your face" in the night - all of these things are my bread and butter and I snarf them down like it's free breadstick night at the Olive Garden. As of late I've really been into haunted houses as I have haunted more than one dwelling in my day and I always find the subject amusing.
But lately haunted house movies have been pissing me off. I've seen a distinct pattern in them and I find myself screaming the same things over and over no matter how new or old the movie in question is. So in effort to save even one of you, my readers, from being eaten by an angry apartment or gobbled by a hungry home - I've developed a list of FIVE important things to always remember when you find yourself confronted by a house that might be haunted. Things like:
Listen To Your Children
It's always the same scenario: A family moves into a new house in a new town in a new state and they either end up bringing a troubled teen or a young child who is too smart for his or her own good. Everything goes well for the first few days, but then strange things start to happen and odd occurrences begin to plague your family.
Doors mysteriously open or close.
Creaking and thumpings can be heard at ni...
FIRP
2009-09-09 00:00:00
Amongst the World of Warcraft roleplayers, there is a bit of a revolution currently happening. My apologies to fellow roleplayers in other MMORPGs, this edition of RoleCraft will focus on this instance, but I'm sure aspects of this event can be easily worked into your favorite roleplaying world. This revolution is a broad and public proclamation towards a paradigm shift of sorts that I have been an advocate of for many years, more recently and especially in this column, but have never given a name to. Thankfully, someone has, along with a detailed explanation and reasonings why. It's called Full Immersion Roleplaying, or FIRP, and it's a very good thing.
Over the last few months, there has been an increasingly intensifying rallying cry from WoW roleplayers on the official forums for us to pull together and engage in a greater collaborative effort in fostering RP. Blizzard still largely ignores or does very little to curb the immense number of anti-RP players and griefers on RP realms, so the only choice is for legitimate roleplayers to do what they can to insure their play sessions are fit according to their own whims and worthy of the monthly fee paid.
This two-fold conundrum has set roleplayers on a path ...

Nick Ryan at Eurogamer tracked down gold farmers from all walks of life and has profiled them in his ongoing series "Gold Trading Exposed." In this second installment of four, Ryan speaks directly with four different gold farmers, each from different parts of the process.

He first introduces "Paul," a British farmer who began farming as a side business in Ultima Online, then moved to EVE and was eventually ran out by the Chinese farming industry....

One million concurrent connections set record in WoW
2009-09-01 00:00:00
Can you imagine one million people doing anything simultaneously? This is one of those fascinating statistics like how a child is born every 3.6 seconds or someone eats meatloaf every 4.9 seconds. Never mind the fact that those previous stats are completely made up, World of Warcr...
$1bn MMO still couldn抰 touch Warcraft, says Activision
2009-09-01 00:00:00
Chief executive of Activision Bobby Kotick believes that even if a publishing rival was to invest $1 billion on a new MMO franchise, they would still struggle to take on Blizzard’s World Of Warcraft.
Speaking at the Goldman Sachs Technology Investment Symposium 2008 conference, Kotick said:
"[Blizzard] has probably half ...
Why It's Bad To Be a Guild Hopper In World Of Warcraft
2009-08-25 00:00:00
This article is originated from www.brighthub.com. A general overview on some of the problems that guilds are facing in the World of Warcraft lately and what players can do to help.Just a no-no...br />When it comes to playing World of Warcraft, it seems that pretty much every player is in a guild. You always have those few that manage to stay solo, but the vast majority of players join guilds. A guild is actually a good thing, as it gives you some friends and colleagues to help with instances and fights as well as higher level players who can help you through spots that you have not been in before. But, there are some players out there who are taking advantage of guilds on every server and it seems to be getting worse here lately.
With all the hacking going on into player's accounts, guilds that have worked to build up a major guild bank are logging in ...
Micro-Transactions Might Arrive in World of Warcraft
2009-08-13 00:00:00
In the gaming industry, we've seen quite a lot of trends appear and disappear just as fast. But one of them, which is seemingly here to stay, consists of the micro-transaction-based online titles. We've seen quite a few experiments in this field by Electronic Arts, which has already released Battlefield Heroes and is developing NFS World Online as free-to-play titles that will charge money when players want to buy new items or exclusive content. But one of the biggest online titles, Blizzard's World of Warcraft, is still demonstrating that subscriber-based projects are still profitable, having over 11.5 million mont...
said, tanking 5 mans in pvp gear
2009-05-14 00:00:00
Despite what the previous ers have said, tanking 5 mans in pvp gear is fine. I have seen it done many, many times quite scessfully. I have been grouped with fury warriors using a 2hander to tank in reg 5 mans with pvp gear and have absolutely no issues. There are norushing blows in 5 mans, hero or regular. It is easier to get urittable in pvp gear than pve gear. I think you only need 197 resil to be urittable in pve. Plus you will have tons of stam with the pvp gear. If you were talking about tanking raid instaes, then people would be justified in telling you to go sk a lemon with pvp gear, but for 5 mans, it is no problem at all.
